To plot an optimal tour on a Google map, try Plan a Trip at www.tsp.gatech.edu/maps/index.html . (This uses computational mathematics from the Traveling Salesman Problem.) It may not give you the most scenic route, but is supposed to plot the shortest route. After you add your stops (city, state - at least 3), click on Best Drive. It should figure out the shortest route. Click on Tour Details for the google map and driving details. (You can play around here and drag the towns into different orders if you wish.) I'm sure it's not perfect, but it might give you an interesting ride for the day. (As always, be sure to do reality checks on online map information!) Have fun!
